Tandem Collective Manifesto

We are a family of freelancers spearheading creative, community-centred marketing, connecting people from all backgrounds through a shared passion for culture and media. Our forward-thinking and people-first values are at the heart of who we are and what we do.

Courage

We are a small business, trail-blazers, daring to dream big, to challenge the status quo and offer fresh new perspectives. From headliners to shoestring budgets, we nurture each project to maximise outreach, visibility, and meaningful impact. We say no to vanity metrics and yes to actions, word-of-mouth, and purposeful growth. We solve problems, creative ruts, and overstretched teams by offering bespoke support on essential industry skills from strategy to graphic design, event management to distribution. We have the courage to take on the world with expanding community hubs in seven oversea territories. We dare to be game-changing, non-traditional, and ever-evolving.

Connection

As a collective, we connect clients, communities, and creatives. Throughout our digital and hybrid networks, we strive to uphold values of teamwork, inclusivity, and open communication by nurturing sincere relationships and making space for reflection and feedback. Our community is a safe space, a support system, and a springboard for creativity, we therefore have zero tolerance towards egocentrism, competition, and hostility. By rejecting corporate culture, we fight for open doors, flat structures, and smashing glass ceilings. We are the proud creators of immersive Readalongs, Watchalongs, and Listenalongs

Compassion

We are a team of people who have families, dreams, and lifestyles. In our company, work-life balance means the ability to manage our own schedule, the ability to work from anywhere in the world, and the ability to be passionate about our work without sacrificing our mental health. We dedicate our Fridays to recharge our creative energy, and our free time to upskilling and scheming for a more diverse industry. We understand what itโ€™s like to be the little guy, thatโ€™s why we aim to be fair and inclusive in everything we do, including championing small presses, independent businesses, and micro-influencers.

Our 2030 Vision

By 2030, we will become a truly global collective with freelance and community hubs in all major regions across the world. We will establish strong new verticals in different entertainment mediums and reimagine live and hybrid events in true Tandem fashion. We will not stop growing, living, and learning.

Naomi Bacon

Director

Naomi Bacon has a background in marketing and PR, including large publishers and media organisations, such as, Pan Macmillan, Penguin and Hachette. Her ambition has always been to be at the forefront of digital innovation, creating meaningful connections between publishing partners, content creators and brands to generate word of mouth around new book, film, theatre and TV releases. In 2020, Naomi was nominated by The Bookseller as one of the top 150 most influential people in publishing.

The Team

The Tandem team comprises a passionate pool of freelancers, many of whom are influencers themselves, with a range of skills spanning social media, events, project management and graphic design. The team pride themselves on being highly efficient, fast-moving, fun and friendly to work with for both clients and participants. They are known within the community as being effusive, supportive, transparent and tireless.

Our work with

Publishers

Publishers come to us with their new releases and we work together on activation and delivery of influencer outreach campaigns, online book clubs, creative partnerships and cross-channel initiatives.

Content Creators

We work closely with content creators across a number of channels, from Instagram to TikTok, making sure we deliver the highest level of content engagement around new book, film, theatre and TV releases.

Brands

From online book clubs to activation on social channels and content marketing, we work with like-minded brands and have a busy schedule of initiatives planned with Whistles, Papier, Topshop, Mint Velvet, and many more.

Tandem Training

The team also regularly facilitates workshops for clients around digital innovation and creativity. From workshops on copywriting to sessions on a specific channel (eg. Instagram), the team provides curated training on the latest digital marketing activities.
